Central figures in the group and regulars to the narrative.

Alana A stubborn, quiet loner with world-class swordplay and a penchant for classic literature. When she died, Ethlyn brought her back to life, and her blood now runs red and black. Electra is her childhood friend and lover, Hostility is her sparring partner, and Zinnia is her emotional support photographer. (she/her)

Electra Alana's childhood friend, who deserted her in a time of need and then returned after almost a decade. A mellow and candid individual with a huge greatsword, an interest in high fantasy, and a lot of love to share. Wieża is a now-distant friend, Alana is a rekindled flame, and the Guitarist is a bright new spark. (any/all)

Ethlyn Calloway A bubbly, energetic, scatterbrained, sleep-deprived, caffeine-addicted genius engineer. Built Alana's cybernetics and helped Hostility with others. Oh, and brought Alana back from the dead. Bell is her lover and caretaker, Alana is her closest friend, and Darcy is her gaming buddy. (she/her)

Bell Adelson A warm, affectionate, easy-to-trust medical expert. Bell keeps everyone healthy—she cooks for friends in need of food, keeps stock of and distributes essential pharmaceuticals, and is second to none as a shoulder to cry on. Ethlyn's girlfriend and caretaker since childhood, and a peripheral friend to the whole group. (he/she)

Rat Manchu A greasy, grimy informant who likes poking her nose where it doesn't belong. Likes getting a rise out of people. She's been with Darcy since time immemorial, taken care of by Hostility since she and Darcy were kids, and getting close to Nico since the three rescued them. (she/it)

Darcy Relayer A shut-in 1337 h4xx0r grrl with a surplus of both time and hands. Extremely absorbed in hxr work most of the time. Rat's girlfriend since forever, Nico's brain hacker, and Ethlyn's BFF. (shx/hxr)

Nico Lombard An ex-cop who was captured by Hostility and whose brain was jailbroken out of the system by Darcy. Doesn't know too much about themself yet. Already close to Rat, Darcy, and Hostility, and generally amicable with the rest. (they/them)

Hostility A master bladesmith, engineer, and fencer. Made all of her own cybernetics and most of Nico's, as well as most of Alana's swords. An elder figure to most of the group, especially Rat, Darcy, and Alana. (she/her)

Minor Cast

Characters with a smaller role to play.

Zinnia A photographer Alana saved from a collapsing structure, ported into a robot body Ethlyn made. Tireless and single-minded. Very close with Alana, but cagey around anyone else. (she/her)

The Guitarist A mysterious musician from outside the city. Blind, mute, very sociable, and a bit of a jokester. Bonded with Electra over their shared nomadic background. Open to making friends, but hasn't been here very long. (she/her)

Wieża A lonely ex-soldier who lives in a small house in the mountains. A friend of Electra's who reminded her of Alana, and who encouraged her to return to the city. Perhaps they will meet again, someday. (he/him)
